"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful,
committed citizens can change the world.
Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."

- Margaret Mead

Artists for Human Rights Peggy Callahan Voices4Freedom
Voices4Freedom Foundation is dedicated to bringing freedom to tens of thousands throughout the world, who are bound in a life of despairing subjugation. By building schools for those who had no prior access to education and thus no way to escape abject poverty, Voices4Freedom is able for the first time to free entire villages in India from generational slavery. Through their efforts they've witnessed the resilience of the human spirit in the faces and artwork of survivors who are now rebuilding their lives and helping others to freedom.

Starting out as an award-winning TV reporter and anchor covering racism, the working poor, foster care, and the death penalty, Peggy Callahan has spent much of the last sixteen years documenting the abysmal lack of human rights. She has executive produced 28 films on this subject and hundreds of millions of viewers around the globe have seen her work. She is the author of the book Slavery.

In 2008, Peggy created and produced the first Freedom Awards, honoring survivors, activists, leaders, artists, and heroes for freedom. They have been covered by 150 media outlets broadcasting to 85 million people, raising over $2.1 million for those winners.

"Not so long ago, we were such tiny groups of crazy people
screaming in the dark that it was time to end slavery.
Now there are millions of us and we don't seem so crazy,
well most of us at least ... So thank you."
- Peggy Callahan
